What led you to become an educator, and what do you love most about teaching?
I’ve always carried a deep excitement for learning and a love for sharing knowledge with others. Being able to facilitate that same joy in students is an incredible blessing. God has opened doors in countless ways for me to step into education, and I view it as a calling—one I do not take lightly. It continues to be both an honor and a blessing—an answered prayer—to serve in this role. I am grateful every day for the opportunity to inspire a love of learning in others.
How does your faith influence your work in the classroom and with students?
I feel deeply led to encourage students to apply God’s Word to their everyday lives and decisions. I want them to understand that the first person we should turn to is always God, and the first place we should look for answers is the Bible. I strive to make that truth practical and relatable, helping them see how faith can guide them in both small moments and big challenges.
What is something unique about the way you teach or the way you connect with students?
I strive to create a learning environment where students understand that mistakes are not failures, but opportunities to grow. I model this mindset through my teaching, demonstrating techniques that help build confidence and courage—no matter how difficult a subject may seem at first. I also prioritize a lighthearted, encouraging atmosphere where every student feels seen, supported, and knows that we are all part of the same team. Together, there’s no challenge too big or too small.
What are your favorite things to learn, explore, or talk about with students?
Some of my favorite topics include science, technology, computers, engineering, programming, robotics, art, music, outdoor sports, and real-world problem-solving—especially when it comes to troubleshooting and repairing things. I love cultivating an inventor’s mindset and encouraging students to think critically and creatively. More than just what we learn, I focus on teaching how to learn—developing curiosity, adaptability, and a passion for lifelong discovery.
When you're not at school, how do you like to spend your time?
When I find free time, I enjoy painting and sculpting—it’s both relaxing and creatively fulfilling. Most often, though, our home is filled with the joyful chaos of parenting: watching our kids dance to their favorite cartoons or gathering for a family movie night with lots of homemade popcorn and fruit smoothies. Those everyday moments are some of the sweetest.
What’s one hope or prayer you have for your students this year?
My prayer is that every student knows how important they are—that they are deeply loved, surrounded by people who care about them, and supported in every way possible. I want them to experience a learning environment that is positive, safe, and uplifting. I pray they know they are perfectly created in God’s image, that He has a unique plan and calling for each of their lives, and that His love for them will carry them through anything they face.
